1. Introduction
LegacyTree is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the LegacyTree mobile application.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account information: Your email address and password when you create an account
- Profile information: Names, birth dates, birth places, and other details you enter for family members
- Photos: Photos you upload to family member profiles
- Family relationships: Relationship data between family members that you enter into the app
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account
- Store and display your family tree and family member information
- Allow invited family members to view and contribute to your family tree
- Provide customer support
4. Data Storage and Security
All data is stored securely on Supabase (Canada Central region). All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. We implement appropriate technical measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access.
5. Analytics and Crash Reporting
We use Sentry to help us identify and fix crashes and technical errors, and PostHog to understand how the app is used so we can improve it. These tools may collect device information, app usage patterns, and crash diagnostics. This data is used solely to improve LegacyTree and is not sold or used for advertising.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties except:
- With family members you explicitly invite to your family tree via invite code
- As required by law
7. Photos
Photos you upload are stored securely in our cloud storage. Photos are only accessible to members of your family tree who have been invited by you.
8. Children's Privacy
LegacyTree is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at benito7892@gmail.com and we will delete it immediately.
9. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
10. Account Deletion
You can permanently delete your account at any time directly within the app, from the Settings screen. If you are the only member of your family tree, deleting your account will also delete all associated family data, photos, relationships, and stories. If other family members are still active in your family tree, your account and personal login information will be removed, while shared family tree content remains available to the remaining members.

11. Child Safety Standards
LegacyTree is committed to the safety of all users, especially children. We have a zero tolerance policy for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) content of any kind.
- Our app does not permit any content that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers minors
- Users can report child safety concerns by emailing benito7892@gmail.com
- We will promptly review all reports and take immediate action including account termination
- We will report any child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and all relevant regional and national authorities
- Any accounts found violating our child safety standards will be immediately and permanently terminated
- Our app complies with all relevant child safety laws
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the date at the top of this policy.
